The first annual Lead Belly Blues Festival, named after Grammy-ominated Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Blues Musician and songwriter Huddie "Lead Belly" Ledbetter, will take place May 9, 2009 at Shreveport's Festival Plaza.  Ledbetter was born and spent his early years in Mooringsport, LA and the historic Ledbetter Heights neighborhood in Shreveport is named after this world-renowned musician.  To learn more about the Festival and the musician that penned over 500 songs, including "Midnight Special" and "Good Night, Irene", and influenced countless musicians such as Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton and The Rolling Stones, click here.
